Platforma HD
Created in 2008, this quite a young company has become a leader in HDTV
broadcasting. Currently, it offers the largest HD channels package on the
territory of Russia and has the largest base of HD subscribers. In the
European part of Russia Platforma HD is available on Eurobird 9А satellite
both for private subscribers (DTH) and for cable operators interested in
retransmission of the channels.
Since the moment of its foundation the company has been performing mostly HDTV broadcasting, which singled out the Platforma HD. Now, the company’s mission is to make HD available for those who will. Such availability shall mean a modest price for connection and subscription fee and an easy access to HD channels, direct-to-home or through cable network. Besides, Platforma HD offers its DTH subscribers SD channels package of premium quality called Platforma DV. The Platforma DV comprises 23 TV channels, including all main federal channels. The compression format MPEG 4 and a high speed of data transfer for a channel contributed greatly to the improved quality of broadcasting. In February, 2010, at the International professional exhibition CSTB 2010 Platforma HD and its technological partners, namely, General Satellite and Samsung Electronics, announced they got to work over the first 3D television project in Russia. The 3D channel is currently at a preparatory stage.
